The England and World XI teams will showcase their football skills for charity, featuring stars like former Lioness Jill Scott, EastEnders’ Bobby Brazier, Sir Mo Farah, and Line of Duty’s Vicky McClure, along with legends such as Jermain Defoe.

Among them is Lee Mack, star of Not Going Out. However, viewers might notice that the comedian from Southport in the North West isn’t playing for England. Instead, Mack is part of the World XI team for this annual UNICEF charity match — but why?

Tonight, England and the World XI teams will meet at Stamford Bridge.

Remembering the Cause

The goal is to raise as much money as possible tonight to help protect play for every child, ensuring they grow up happy, healthy, and ready to take on the world.

Why Lee Mack Doesn’t Play for England in Soccer Aid

The 55-year-old, now living in East Molesey, Surrey, with his wife Tara and their three children, is playing for the World XI due to his Irish heritage. Lee Mack discovered his family history when he appeared on BBC’s iconic Who Do You Think You Are? in 2018.

Lee Mack’s Soccer Aid Performance

Mack has appeared in Soccer Aid multiple times and even scored a winning penalty in 2022. He used to play for the England team before uncovering his Irish roots.
