Here’s a simple recipe for homemade Popeyes-style fried chicken:
Ingredients:
- 4 chicken thighs (bone-in, skin-on)
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions:
- Marinate the Chicken:
- Place the chicken thighs in a bowl and pour the buttermilk over them. Ensure the chicken is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for best results).
- Prepare the Coating:
- In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Coat the Chicken:
- Remove the chicken from the buttermilk marinade, allowing any excess to drip off.
